Chamber will host safety program

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host its Mahoning Valley Safety Council program on active- shooter threats, featuring Youngstown-based FBI agent Todd Werth on March 21 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.

Werth and other speakers will discuss how businesses should prepare for and react to instances where an armed assailant is looking to hurt people. The event includes breakfast and runs from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

There is a cost of $35 for chamber members and $45 for nonmembers.

NEOTEC re-elects top officers to board

The Northeast Ohio Trade & Economic Consortium has re-elected its top officers to the board of the Northeast Ohio Joint Office of Economic Development for 2014.

Summit County Executive Russell Pry will continue to serve as chairman. Columbiana County Commissioner Tim Weigle will again serve as vice president, and Richland County Commissioner Ed Olson will remain secretary.

NEOTEC is a nonprofit, multicounty partnership that provides economic services on behalf of the JOED. Its founding members are Columbiana, Mahoning, Trumbull, Portage, Stark and Summit counties.

GM official to speak at ATHENA event

Diana Tremblay, General Motors vice president of global business services, will be the keynote speaker at the 22nd annual ATHENA Award dinner May 22 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center.

The award recognizes area business and professional women who distinguish themselves in terms of professional achievement, community service and support for professional women.

The dinner is hosted by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and The Vindicator, but additional sponsors are being sought.

Chamber to celebrate 20th anniversary

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will celebrate its 20th anniversary and recognize area business and political leaders at the Annual Meeting and Luncheon on March 20.

This year’s honorees are Robert Shroder, CEO and president of Humility of Mary Health Partners; Sylvester J. Frazzini, general manager and vice president of American Business Center Inc.; Chris Jasklewicz, president and COO of VEC INC.; and Trumbull County Commissioners Paul Heltzel, Frank Fuda and Dan Polivka.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center. There is a cost of $30 for Regional Chamber members and $40 for nonmembers.
