Arson suspected in fire on East Side

Firefighters extinguished an apparent arson at a vacant home at 139 N Forest Ave. on the East Side at 7:39 p.m. Saturday.

The home was on the city’s demolition list and didn’t have any utilities, so the blaze was most likely arson, said Terrence Jordon, battalion chief.

The home wasn’t close to any other structures and was fully engulfed when the fire department arrived, so firefighters let it burn.
