POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent police activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
March 2
Arrest: A traffic stop on South State Street resulted in the arrest of Chris D. Woodie II, no age given. The Warren man was wanted on a warrant from that city.
March 3
Fraud: A North Avenue man learned that someone had obtained one of his credit cards to make $402 worth of unauthorized purchases at two area Walmart locations.
Arrest: Officers responding to a report of an intoxicated person causing problems at a U.S. Route 422 restaurant charged 61-year-old Thomas Gordon with disorderly conduct. Gordon, of Iowa Avenue, Girard, became belligerent, pushed two employees and refused to leave, a report said.
March 4
Theft: A woman in the 500 block of North Avenue reported her purse stolen.
Menacing: A worker for a Route 422 animal clinic told police a woman was angered and threatened him after blaming the facility for the death of a friend’s dog and being told about the procedure for filing a claim. The business also reported having received harassing online posts related to the situation.
March 5
Burglary: Occurred in the 400 block of Idaho Avenue, where two firearms, a 32-inch TV and a laptop computer were taken. The loss came to $2,060.
LIBERTY
Feb. 28
Theft: A Girard man discovered a Nintendo system and related games, a laptop computer and a 210-piece tool set missing from his car after having shopped at a Belmont Avenue grocery store. The loss was estimated at $2,200.
Employee theft: A manager with Advance Auto Parts, 3179 Belmont Ave., alleged an employee made five fraudulent refund transactions to his debit card that totaled $869.
Arrest: Campbell police at the Mahoning County jail handed 40-year-old Herbert Cross of South Raccoon Road, Austintown, to township authorities. Cross was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Theft: A manager with Bob Evans Restaurant, 3818 Belmont Ave., noticed a day deposit was short by an undisclosed sum of money.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 2000 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road was found with a damaged front windshield, possibly from a bullet.
Identity fraud: A Norwich Avenue woman discovered her identity had been used without permission to secure a $550 loan from a website.
March 1
Arrest: Humility of Mary Health Partners police apprehended and handed to township authorities Brian W. Pressley of Green Acres Drive, Liberty. The 52-year-old Pressley was wanted on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and criminal tools, theft, carrying a concealed weapon and criminal trespassing.
Theft: A woman reported her purse, $200 and a set of house keys stolen from her Ventura Drive home.
March 2
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed Everett R. Johnson, 32, of Early Road, Youngstown, to Liberty authorities. He was wanted on a driving-under-suspension warrant.
Drugs: Officers received information that someone in the 200 block of Goldie Road was slumped over in a vehicle before charging 30-year-old Candis O. Bacher of Stewart Avenue, Youngstown, with possession of crack cocaine and drug-abuse instruments. Bacher, who also was wanted on a warrant, had a spoon with burn marks common in drug use and several syringes; in addition, a packet of suspected crack cocaine and a suspected crack pipe fell from her clothing while she was at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, police said.
March 3
Arrest: Police assisted firefighters with a structure fire at a Motor Inn Drive motel before taking into custody 38-year-old Sharon L. Ritter of Chambers Street, Campbell, on a Hubbard warrant. All of the guests had been evacuated and no one was injured, a report showed.
Arrest: Police arrested Dale M. Harrison, 46, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. Harrison, of Colonial Drive, Liberty, was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.
March 4
Arrest: McDonald police handed to township authorities 29-year-old Brian D. Boggs of Annabelle Street, McDonald, who was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failure to comply with a court order related to a disorderly-conduct charge.
Trespassing: Police charged Randall P. Vecchio, 48, of state Route 164, Lisbon, with criminal trespassing after getting a tip about someone removing property from the former Days Inn motel, 1610 Motor Inn Drive. The items were in the bed of Vecchio’s pickup truck, a report said.
HUBBARD
Feb. 28
Theft: A School Street man reported having sold various tools online for $300 to a Perry, Ohio, man who gave him $100 for the merchandise but failed to pay the remaining amount.
Identity fraud: A Timberpoint Boulevard man found out someone had opened a bank account in his name but without his consent.
Arrest: Police conducting a welfare check on Parkview Drive charged 30-year-old Adrienne C. Kinnick of Meadowland Drive, Hubbard, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated after saying they saw her walking in the area while drunk.
March 1
Criminal mischief: Someone smashed a $65 mailbox in the 800 block of South Main Street.
Assault: Patrick I. Marsh, 31, of Nash Avenue, Niles, faced an assault charge after three woman, including his girlfriend, reported having been assaulted at a business in the 100 block of North Main Street. One woman alleged Marsh pulled out a portion of her hair; another accuser alleged he struck her several times.
March 2
Assault: A Hubbard man reported two men repeatedly punched his face and head during a fight in the 100 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road. The victim suffered a deep cut above his right eye.
March 3
Arrest: Police in the 5600 block of West Liberty Street picked up 38-year-old Sharon L. Ritter of Chambers Street, Campbell, who was accused of failing to appear in court on two felony counts of receiving stolen property and one misdemeanor count of passing a bad check.
Citation: A traffic stop near state Route 304 led to a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 45-year-old Vincent A. Fabrizi of Parish Avenue, Hubbard, with driving under suspension and operating an unsafe vehicle.
March 4
Theft: A $1,350 gold ring was removed from a home in the 100 block of Forest Hill Drive.
Harassment: A Jerry Drive woman said her daughter’s boyfriend has been harassing her.
March 5
Citation: Police cited Durale W. Carter, 26, of Karl Street, Youngstown, on a charge of driving under suspension after police pulled him over on South Main Street.
