WARREN

Alexander A. Howe, 19, of Robbins Avenue in Niles, has been indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on charges that could put him in prison for 20 years.

Howe was indicted on two counts of aggravated burglary and one count of kidnapping, all with specifications that he used a firearm.

Niles police said Howe broke in through the back door of a 65-year-old woman’s house on North Butler Street at 5 a.m. Dec. 30 and severely beat her, injuring her eyes and face. She escaped out the back door and pounded on neighbors’ doors to get help.

Meanwhile, the grand jury has indicted Robert F. Jordan III, 50, of Sutton Place in Howland on a cocaine-possession charge that could result in a 10-year prison sentence.

Jordan received a 23-to-78-year prison sentence in 1997 for his role in a hostage situation and robbery at the former Ponderosa Steakhouse on Youngstown Road in Niles.

The drug charge stems from a traffic stop Feb. 10 on Youngstown Road in Warren during which officers found cocaine and $508 in cash in his pocket.
