After police chase through four communities, Boardman man nabbed

Staff report

NEW MIDDLETOWN

A Boardman man is in the Mahoning County jail facing two felony charges and several misdemeanor charges for purportedly leading Boardman and Springfield Township police on an early-morning chase through Boardman, Poland, New Middletown and Springfield Township.

Boardman police started the chase, but Springfield Township police continued it as it proceeded into Poland on U.S. Route 224 and southbound on state Route 170 at 1:14 a.m. Saturday.

Charles N. Ramsey, 38, of 8086 Sigle Lane in Boardman was apprehended after New Middletown police put out spike strips. The spikes flattened the tires on Ramsey’s 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck, causing the vehicle to go into a ditch just north of Springfield High School in Springfield Township, where Ramsey was arrested. No injuries were reported.

Ramsey will be arraigned Monday in Struthers Muncipal Court on felony charges of failure to comply with the orders of a police officer and drug possession and misdemeanor counts of operating a motor vehicle impaired, driving under suspension, failure to control and selling, purchasing, distributing or delivering drugs.
