Members of the Canfield Baseball Club gave back to the community by lending a hand to Operation Blessing Food Pantry at the Canfield Presbyterian Church Feb. 24.

Brayden Beck, Ethan Fletcher, Cole Rothbauer, Evan Skripac, Richie Hofus, Seth Velker, Jake Kowal and McCoy Watkins volunteered after school to unload canned goods at the church which were collected for Operation Blessing during Canfield High School’s Spirit Week.

The players loaded the canned goods into grocery carts and brought them inside to waiting Operation Blessing volunteers who then sorted and stored the food.

“We appreciate the help from the boys. They help the process go much faster,” said Julie Kercher, Operation Blessing director.

Operation Blessing distributes food to qualified applicants year-round on the third Thursday of each month at the Canfield Presbyterian Church.

“We serve from about 120-180 people a month. We are here to help those in need. It’s shocking to find out that people don’t know about us when we are right down the street and are willing and able to help,” Kercher said.
