Basista impresses at YMCA League Championships

Boardman’s Noah Basista showed that he was one of the top 12-year-old breast strokers and individual medley swimmers in the state of Ohio, winning both the 11-12 year old division in the 50-yard breast stroke and the 100-yard individual medley at the YMCA Northeast Ohio League Championships at C.T. Brainin Natatorium in Canton March 1.

As a member of the Youngstown YMCA Neptunes, Basista’s winning breast stroke time of 30.79 places him on the national charts for his age bracket. This capped off a record breaking season for Basista as he set both the 50-yard breast stroke and 100-yard individual medley pool records.

In addition, Basista also qualified in 12 events for the YMCA Great Lake’s Zone Championships March 23-24 at Ohio State University. This meet consists of the best swimmers from the neighboring five states.
