Girard cop given last chance agreement following drinking party at home
GIRARD
City leaders have decided on how to discipline a police officer whose residence was the site of a teenage drinking party.
Patrolman Larry Neely has been given a “last chance agreement.” Mayor Jim Melfi said the terms stipulate that, if Neely does not follow the policies and rules of the police department, he can be terminated immediately and without having to go through negotiations with the police union.
This agreement will be in place for two years, Melfi said, adding that it sends a strong message to Neely.
Neely also will receive a 20-day unpaid suspension effective immediately.
