CAMPBELL

City police arrested two people on drug-related charges Monday and Tuesday.

Both arrests were the product of traffic stops, according to police reports.

About 11:15 p.m. Monday, police stopped a car that swerved left of center on Coitsville Road. When an officer approached the car, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.

The driver — identified as Maurice J. Brooks, 27, of Compton Lane in Youngstown — was found to have a suspended license and was arrested. A search of his car produced four unidentified pills and 0.6 grams of suspected marijuana, along with $185 in cash, reports say.

Brooks was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, prescription label required, driving under suspension and for failing to drive in marked lanes.

At 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, police stopped a car driving on McCartney Road for having objects hanging from the rear-view mirror and obstructing the driver’s view to the front.

The driver was informed by an officer that the police department’s drug-interdiction team was looking for any illegal contraband, and the driver consented to a search of his car.

Police said they found a pill bottle without a label with nine unidentified pills inside in the purse of he passenger, identified as Summer Eve Alderman, 35, of Willow Crest Avenue in Austintown.

Alderman was cited for failing to have a prescription label.
