Drug charges

CAMPBELL

City police arrested a 28-year-old Campbell man during a traffic stop Sunday evening on multiple drug charges — including a felony possession charge.

Police stopped Jason A. Rushton, of Blackburn Street, at 9:11 p.m. Sunday, for having objects hanging from his rear-view mirror obstructing his view to the front. Rushton could not provide a driver’s license, registration or proof of insurance, and police discovered his license had been suspended.

Police placed Rushton under arrest. A search of his car produced 2 grams of suspected heroin in the center console. Rushton also admitted he had another gram of heroin on him.

He was charged with possession of heroin, which is a fifth-degree felony; possession of drug paraphernalia; and driving under suspension. Rushton was held in city jail without bond.

Gun found in truck

YOUNGSTOWN

Police found a .38-caliber handgun during a traffic stop Sunday evening on the East Side.

Officers pulled over a pickup on Albert Street about 7:10 p.m. for a traffic violation and the passenger, Robert Edward Green, 34, of Youngstown was acting nervous, reports said.

Officers asked the driver, Blaine Tinelli, 22, of Hubbard, if there was anything in the car and if they could search it, and he gave permission, reports said.

As Tinelli was being searched, an officer saw Green place something under the seat, reports said. Green also smelled heavily of alcohol. Police searched the area where they saw Green reaching and found the gun.

Green was arrested on charges of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm and having weapons while intoxicated. Tinelli was cited for not having a license-plate light, reports said.
