Pedestrian killed
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
Shenango Township Police are seeking the public’s help in their investigation of a Friday evening hit-skip crash that killed a pedestrian. A Lawrence County deputy coroner pronounced Charles Bobro, 55, of New Castle, dead at the scene of the 10:30 p.m. incident on New Butler Road near state Route 388. Bobro was walking east near a Red Apple gas station, and police said they believe the vehicle that hit him fled west into New Castle.
Police said they have no description of the vehicle, but are reviewing security camera systems at nearby businesses that may have recorded the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call township police at 724-658-6095.
Juvy center accredited

The Mahoning County Juvenile Detention Center recently received its third American Correctional Association accreditation.
Having scored 99 percent in the ACA’s review, the local detention center is among only five Ohio juvenile lockups to receive the accreditation.
The three-year certification means the 1979-vintage facility meets ACA standards for staffing, safety, financial controls, management and discipline.
Siren tests Wednesday

Mahoning County’s emergency alert sirens will sound at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday in conjunction with the statewide observance of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
During this time, the county’s emergency management agency urges schools, businesses and households to practice their plans for tornadoes and other emergencies.

South Range Council of Church & Community received a $2,500 donation from local farmer Susan Moore, through the America’s Farmers Grow Communities.
America’s Farmers offers farmers the chance to win money that is then donated to a nonprofit of their choice.
The council will use the money to buy food from Second Harvest Food Bank.
Mobile Meals to have champions week
WARREN
Trumbull Mobile Meals, 323 E. Market St., will have a “Community Champions Week” March 17-21. Individuals such as mayors will pack and deliver meals that week. A luncheon will be March 19 for the champions.
Churches are asked to participate in the “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread” campaign, which involves a single-plate collection in March.
