Lawrence Co. real-estate tax bills in the mail

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

Lawrence County real-estate tax statements for 2014 are being mailed this week, said county Treasurer Richard L. Rapone.

It is the responsibility of property owners to submit their tax statements to their escrow company, Rapone added.

A tax outreach program will be offered in all county districts. This allows taxpayers to go to areas closer to their homes to make their payments.

Enon Valley Borough/Little Beaver Township, 9 a.m. to noon, March 11.

Wampum Borough, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, March 12.

New Wilmington Borough, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 13.

Ellwood City, 9 to 1, March 14.

Wayne Township, 9 to 1, March 17.

Union Township, 9 to 1, March 18.

Taylor Township, 9 to noon, March 20.

Scott Township, 9 to noon, March 21.

Bessemer Borough, 9 to 1, March 24.

Shenango Township, 9 to 1, March 25.

Volant Borough/Washington Township, 9 to noon, March 27.

Ellport Borough, 9 to 1 March 31.

Hickory Township, 9 to noon April 4.

Plain Grove Township, 9 to noon April 8, Wilmington Township, 9 to 1, April 9.

Perry Township, 9 to noon, April 10.

Mahoning Township, 9 to 1, April 14.

A tax bill will be accepted at any tax outreach location. Checks, cash and money orders only will be accepted.

Residents also can pay their bill at the treasurer’s office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, or by mailing payment to 430 Court St., New Castle, Pa. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope if requesting a receipt.

Payments can be made at any ESB Bank branch through May 5. No personal checks will be accepted after Dec. 15. Credit-card payments through Visa, Mastercard or Discover will be accepted in the treasurer’s office, and a 2.45 percent third-party convenience fee will apply for credit-card transactions. No credit cards will be accepted via telephone.

May 5 has been set as the end of the discount period to coincide with taxpayers receiving pension and Social Security payments.
