Mineral Ridge man charged with shooting at police
MINERAL RIDGE
Daniel A. Persing, 52, of Garland Drive, was charged with two counts of felonious assault and single counts of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises and using weapons while intoxicated Tuesday after he purportedly fired a weapon at police.
Persing fired a shot shortly after officers arrived for a 911 call, then fired more times from inside the house as officers took cover, police said.
Officers were able to get into the house later and arrest him.
Persing was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, for treatment.
Judge Thomas Townley of Niles Municipal Court on Thursday ordered him held in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
If convicted, Persing could get 20 years in prison.
