The Links inductees, above, were required to attend orientation workshops and pass a rigorous test before their induction. During the ceremony, each inductee was presented with a white rose, the flower that symbolizes The Links. After the induction, they each received a Links pin and numerous gifts from their Links sisters. From left are Ruthie King, Ursula Perdue, Dr. Sabine Barlatt, Audrey Gillian and Theresa Yarboro.

Caffe Capri was the setting May 18 as the Youngstown Chapter of The Links Inc. installed officers and inducted five new members.

Anne R. Cobbin was installed as president for the 2014-2015 club year, and Krishmu Shipmon as the vice president.

Other associate officers were Monica Hoskins-Vann, treasurer; Marge Staples, financial secretary; Janice L. Beachum, recording secretary; Juanita Davis, corresponding secretary; Sarah Brown-Clark, parliamentarian; Beachum, chaplain; Dr. Joan Boyd, archivist; and Beachum, Davis and Brown-Clark, public relations.

Performing the duties of facet and committee chairs will be Dr. Virginia Banks-Bright, chair, The Arts, co-chair, Lenora Hill; Services to Youth chair, Hill, co-chair, Wanda Smith; Health and Human Services chair, Boyd, co-chair, Banks-Bright; National Trends and Services chair, Margaret Person; International Trends and Services chair, Sandra Thompkins; membership chair, Shipmon, co-chair, Beachum; ways and means chair, Staples, co-chair, Person; budget and finance chair, Hoskins-Vann, co-chair, Staples; scholarship chair, Person, co-chair, Thompkins; constitution/bylaws chair, Brown-Clark, co-chair, Thompkins; protocol chair, Brown-Clark, co-chair, Banks-Bright; ethics chair, Person, co-chair, Brown-Clark; and social/courtesy chair, Staples, co-chair, Beachum.

Brown-Clark conducted the installation. Several of the officers and members of the group will attend the 39th National Assembly in National Harbor, Md., in July.

In other news, Squaw Creek Avalon Inn was the setting for the June 8 induction ceremony and dinner for five new members who were welcomed into the Youngstown Chapter of The Links Inc. The candlelight ceremony was conducted by immediate past president and vice president Shipmon and Beachum.
