5,000 flags in Hubbard

HUBBARD

When Hubbard wants to celebrate the Fourth of July, it doesn’t just wave the flag. It waves 5,000 flags.

For seven years, Burgan Real Estate has been donating money so that the Covenant Life Fellowship Church of Hubbard’s youth group can put up flags on city and township streets.

“We buy the flags, the youth group puts them out, and we also give a donation so the youth group can send it to [Assemblies of God] missionaries,” said Rich Suhovecky, one of Burgan Real Estate’s Hubbard representatives.

“John Burgan is president of Burgan Real Estate — he believes in giving back to the community,” Suhovecky said Wednesday.

“We started out seven years ago with just 1,000 flags.”

The youth group, which includes 25 to 30 kids, already began working this week, Suhovecky said.

Today, they plan to really push ahead to have the flags in front of homes on hundreds of streets in the city and township by the Fourth.

“It’s very dramatic to drive through Hubbard and see the flags waving in everybody’s yard,” Suhovecky, said. “It’s really to celebrate America, and it’s to honor all the veterans.”
