Silencio returns to Calvin Center

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Silencio, the jazz-rock act that’s hard to categorize, will return to Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., Saturday for a 9 p.m. concert.

The Pittsburgh-based band, which visited Calvin Center in November, plays music inspired by the collaborative works of David Lynch and Angelo Badalmenti.

Musically, it is a mesmerizing combination of jazz, lounge and ambient space rock.

The experimental six-member ensemble also incorporates a classic film noir audio-visual presentation as part of its act.

In concert, Silencio glides between its original material and the quirky, spooky jazz of the Lynch series and films “Twin Peaks,” “Blue Velvet” and “Eraserhead.”

The evening will feature two long sets by Silencio with a short intermission.

Tickets are $10 and are limited to 100 guests.

Reservations are encouraged; call or text Jeff Beede at 330-774-4935.

Doors will open at 8 p.m.

The Calvin Center is a half-mile west of downtown.

The Silencio concert is presented by Calvin Center and River’s Edge Productions.
