Father, son charged with theft from elderly woman twice

WEATHERSFIELD

A father and son are charged with theft from the elderly after they purportedly stole from the same woman two weeks apart.

Christopher J. Davis, 29, of Vermont Avenue Northwest in Warren, was charged with the offense last month and was arraigned in Niles Municipal Court on Thursday. Judge Thomas Townley set bond at $2,500.

His father, James D. Davis, 52, of Robbins Avenue in Niles, was charged with the same offense earlier this week in Niles Municipal Court, and an arrest warrant has been issued, but he has not been arrested.

Christopher Davis was hired to work in the woman’s home May 24 and went inside and took money. Afterwards, he told the woman he had to leave. She realized the theft had occurred when she went inside, she said.

On June 6, James Davis, the father of Chris Davis, went to the same house, also looking for work. She allowed him to help her with the project in the yard and he, too, got inside while she was distracted and stole from her, Weathersfield police said on its Facebook page.

James Davis is still being sought. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Weathersfield police at 330-675-2730.
