Car break-in engenders sympathy for scofflaw; faith remains strong

Last MONTH, my husband’s car was broken into at a grocery store on Belmont Avenue. There were several important items taken and through the hectic process of canceling or stopping of accounts and thinking of items to report, I cannot help but feel sorry for the person that did it. Now not that I don’t feel sorry for my husband or anyone else that this has happened to (it is a frustrating process and you feel completely violated in some way), but maybe this person doesn’t know right from wrong.

I am no saint by any means but I try to be a good example to my children and to teach them to be respectful of others and of others’ property. I have made mistakes in my life which I have learned and grown from. I hope that this will be a learning experience for them. I hope that the person enjoyed looking at the photos of our children or special time lines of us all in his phone until it was shut off.

I am very blessed to have a healthy, happy family and I thank God everyday for my blessings. I hope you enjoy the items taken. They can be replaced. I want you to know that I am not in a hateful place about this ordeal, I have no intention on losing my faith in people. One bad thing does not trump the multitude of good that I see in people.

I will continue to teach my children to love and respect others. I will continue to teach them that it is better to give than receive. Maybe this person/persons will read this and see that not everyone in the world is against them. Maybe they will understand that some things are worth more in life than someone else’s items. Some possessions have been taken but our faith has not been broken.
