Shakespeare at Glamorgan Castle

ALLIANCE

“Shakespeare at the Castle,” the first of an annual theater festival on the grounds of the Glamorgan Castle, will take place at 7 p.m. July 25-27. Grounds will open at 6:15 p.m. for picnicking.

The inaugural season will feature the comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The production will feature original music composed by Alliance Symphony Orchestra conductor Eric Benjamin. Artistic director for the performance is Kevin P. Kern, assistant professor of theater at the University of Mount Union.

The cast will include students from Alliance High School and the University of Mount Union, members of the Alliance community as well as professional actors from the Cleveland area.

Tickets are $5. Preferred seating is available for $15.

Polka event will honor Larry Walk

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of local polka radio personality and promoter Larry Walk, a special Penn-Ohio Polka Festival reunion will take place at Kuzman’s Lounge, 1025 S. State St., on June 28 from 3 to 9 p.m.

Performers reuniting for this event will be John Gora and Gorale from Canada, Richie Gadowski and Pure Honky from Cleveland, and Madie’s Polish Princes, formerly of Niles.

Youth theater offers ‘Androcles and Lion’

AfterSchool Players Theater, 7206 Market St., rear, will present “Androcles and the Lion” this weekend. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. “Androcles” features 19 actors, age 7 through 14, performing the classic Aesop’s fable.
