CANFIELD

Holborn Herb Growers Guild will host its annual Garden Tea Party from 2 to 4 p.m. July 13 at the Western Reserve Village at the Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana Canfield Road, Gate 5 entrance.

Tickets are $10 per person, and free for children 8 and under. Limited tickets are available. For ticket information and purchasing, call 330-799-6155 or 216-906-2578.

Adults and children are invited to this year’s festivities, which will feature the sampling of herbal teas and savory and sweet culinary delicacies.

Partygoers will get to tour the historical buildings as they stroll among the many herbs, plants and flowers that guild members care for. Guild members also will give herbal demonstrations and share their knowledge and love of herbs.

Philip Monrean, Youngstown State University scholar and classical guitarist, will provide garden music. Other features are a Victorian hat contest and a teddy bear-doll parade.

Adults and children are encouraged to dress for the tea and wear their best Victorian tea hat for the contest. Children should take their favorite teddy bear or doll for the parade. As a keepsake of the event, souvenir teacups and saucers will be given to each visitor.

The guild also will be selling the second printing of the Holborn Herb Growers Guild cookbook, “Herbal Fare.”

The guild began in 1982 with the aim of educating members and the public about the use and enjoyment of herbs. The guild established the public herb gardens at the Western Reserve Village and the Pioneer Village at Boardman Park and has hosted numerous educational programs and events.
