Doctorates

Christopher J. Elias, son of William and Janet Elias of Austintown, graduated earlier this month with a doctorate in economics from the University of California-Irvine.

He is a 1995 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. Elias earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and anthropology from Youngstown State University, a master’s degree in economics from Florida State University and another master’s from YSU in industrial engineering. He served five years in the Navy.

Elias will teach as an assistant professor of economics at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Angeline Marie Rich, daughter of Lori and Will Bagnola of Canfield and Joseph Rich of Columbiana, has received her doctor of physical therapy degree from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W.Va.

Rich is a 2007 graduate of Ursuline High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Xavier University in Cincinnati in 2011.

This spring, she completed a service project in Petionville, Haiti, where she provided pediatric physical-therapy services to children at God’s Littlest Angels Orphanage. She completed a clinical rotation in pediatric therapy in Cincinnati. She is completing her final clinical rotation in geriatric rehabilitation in Cincinnati.

Diane Turschak, daughter of Russell and Mary Ann Turschak, graduated magna cum laude from Duquesne University’s Mylan School of Pharmacy with a doctor of pharmacy degree.

She is a 2008 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. At Duquesne, she was a member of the Rho Chi Pharmaceutical Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi, American Pharmacists Association and Golden Key International Honour Society.

She has accepted a position with a Rite Aid Pharmacy.

Amy Elizabeth Daliman, daughter of Atty. J.P and Jean Daliman of Canfield, completed her residency training in internal medicine this month at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Mich.

She graduated from Canfield High School in 2003. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ohio State University in 2007 and a doctor of osteopathy in 2011 from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz.

Dr. Daliman has accepted a fellowship in cardiology at St. John Malcomb Hospital beginning in July.

Nicholas Anthony Szugye has earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.

Dr. Szugye graduated from Ursuline High School in 2006 as salutatorian. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, graduating cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University in 2010.

Dr. Szugye will begin a residency in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by the end of this month.

He is the son of Michael and Elizabeth Szugye of Hubbard and the grandson of Mary Szugye of Hermitage, Pa., and Charles Popovich of North Lima.

LAWYERS

Joel Adam Buckley, son and Mark and Kimberly Shagrin Buckley, has earned his juris doctorate degree from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law.

He is a 2007 graduate of Liberty High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2011 from Ohio State University’s Max M. Fisher College of Business.

Buckley is studying for the uniform bar exam. He lives in Tucson, Ariz.
