The Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services, 1501 Glenwood Ave., will host a “Christmas in July” program during which it will offer registration for SA services throughout the year.

The first 450 children registered will be eligible for backpacks with school supplies for grades kindergarten through eight; new winter coats for age 3 to 18; Christmas toys for kids up to 12; and Christmas food vouchers for singles and families.

The next 450 children registered will be eligible for the coat, toys and voucher; all children registered after will be eligible for voucher and toys only.

There are registration days throughout July: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 2; 1 to 6 p.m. July 9; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11; 1 to 6 p.m. July 16; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 18, 23 and 25.

A last-chance week is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 and 29 and 1 to 6 p.m. July 30.

To register, each participant must bring a current photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID; proof of all children in the household with birth certificates; proof of other adults in the household with picture ID; proof of income (bring everything that applies) including pay stubs or Ohio Department of Job and Family Services print outs from the last 30 days, child-support papers, SSI/SSD letters, workers’ compensation statements and rent subsidy/utility allowance stubs; and proof of expenses (bring one bill) including lease/mortgage papers, utilities, car payment, insurance or child care.

Social Security cards for all adults and children in the household are for verification purposes only.

Participants may sign up with only one agency or church for Christmas assistance. If a participant’s name is found on other agency or church lists, the application will not be accepted.
