3 arrested after melee in Campbell

Staff report

CAMPBELL

The three people police arrested Wednesday evening during a melee involving more than 60 people near Murray Avenue and Jean Street will appear in Campbell Municipal Court.

Calvin L. Moore, 20, of Katherine Avenue, Youngs-town, is charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and aggravated menacing, and will be in court for a hearing at 9 a.m. today.

Kenneth L. Addison, 36, and Miracle M. Addison, 31, both of an address in the 3800 block of Murray, will appear in court Tuesday for a hearing on charges of disorderly conduct and menacing, respectively.

City police observed the large, verbal altercation while on patrol in the area about 7 p.m. Wednesday. Though the fight originally involved just a few teenage girls, it quickly escalated when adult family members and neighbors became involved, either by fighting or encouraging others to do so, according to a police report.

Even with police intervention, the crowd refused to disperse, so officers from several area departments — including those from Coitsville, Poland Village and Struthers — resorted to the use of pepper spray. Police were able to get the crowd under control after about an hour.
