St. Charles Summerfest this weekend

BOARDMAN
St. Charles Borromeo parish is hosting its annual Summerfest this weekend, with live entertainment each night.
Father Philip Rogers said the event is well attended because of the live music, rides for all ages, and homemade baked goods available over the course of three days.
“There are as many teenagers as senior citizens attempting to win the baked goods,” at the bakery booth, Father Rogers said.
He added that there is also a lemonade booth that’s popular as well.
The many rides and booths are to the south of the church building and to the east of the school building, 7235 Westview Drive close to the intersections of U.S. Route 224 and Market Street. Parking is free and is in the central parking lot on the west side of the school building.
“There’s rides that cater to all ages, which is very nice. There’s little trains and large tilt-a-whirls ... and a beautiful merry-go-round,” Father Rogers said.
The event runs Friday through Sunday with four bands playing over the course of the event. The Boardman Jazz Ensemble starts things off by performing at 6 p.m. Friday followed by Bustin’ Loose from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday. The House Band plays Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. and Guys Without Ties finish off the live performances Sunday, from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m.
A fireworks show ends the festival Sunday, beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday.
Rogers said there will be normal church hours Sunday, with Mass at the following times: 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
