‘St. John’s Revival’ dinner-theater at Dutch Village

Staff report

COLUMBIANA

Ted & Company Theater- Works will present a dinner- theater production of “St. John’s Revival with the Walking Roots Band” Thursday through Saturday at Dutch Village Inn, 150 E. state Route 14.

The national Christian theater company, based in Harrisonburg, Va., became the resident troupe at Dutch Village earlier this year.

“St John’s Revival” will be performed at noon Thursday, and at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

In the spirit of “A Prairie Home Companion,” artistic director Ted Swartz teams up with the Walking Roots Band, also of Harrisonburg, Va., in the foot-stomping show. Comedy sketches, biblical theater and original bluegrass music built around a fictional struggling church — St. John’s — are part of the show.

Ted & Company will present original productions at Dutch Village Inn through the rest of the year. It specializes in stories of faith, presented in an entertaining way that uses humor, drama and music.

The company will return three times before the end of the year to perform its original productions of “Jehovah’s Traveling Trunk Show,” “The Jesus Stories” and “Just Give ’Em The News,” a delightful re- telling of the first Christmas.

Group rates are available, and the inn also offers an overnight dinner-theater package that includes a room at the hotel with dinner and show tickets.

Both the matinee and evening performances include the signature food of the Dutch Village Inn.
