BOARDMAN

Township police are investigating reports of multiple car break-ins Monday night at the Davis YMCA on McClurg Road and at the township park.

Authorities were called to the Davis Y at 6:35 p.m. for reports of several thefts from cars.

All the vehicles were entered by someone breaking one of the vehicle’s side windows. Four purses and one tote bag were stolen and five windows were damaged.

A woman coming to the Y reported seeing a man in his early 20s, clean-shaven and with a thin build wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt in the parking lot.

Police went to the park at 375 Boardman-Poland Road at 7:05 p.m. to investigate thefts from cars parked there.

One car was left unlocked, and the other cars had damaged windows. According to a report, the items stolen were two purses, credit cards, cash and prescription drugs. The total value of items stolen and broken windows was listed at $2,845.

Two cars had windows broken out, but nothing was reported missing from those vehicles. A fourth car had its front drivers’-side window broken out and a purse stolen from the vehicle.

Witnesses told police they saw three male juveniles leave the park in a small, red sport utility vehicle.

Police said it is unclear if the thefts are related.
