Rabies shots for pets available at Oakhill

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown City Health District is sponsoring a rabies-shot clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking deck at Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave. Participants are asked to bring ferrets and cats in a cage and have dogs on a leash.

Services are being donated by Dr. Lisa Kurtz. Each rabies shot is $5 per animal.

Bob Hope’s nephew to be at benefit race

The Second annual Run With the Deputies 5K will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Courthouse Square. A quarter-mile children’s race also is planned.

Proceeds benefit the USO of Northern Ohio, which supports the men and women of the U.S. armed forces. It features an opening ceremony honoring veterans.

Special guest will be Robert M. Hope, former president of the board of directors of USO of Northern Ohio and nephew of comedian Bob Hope.

Warren forum set on Rx for drug abuse

The Rx2DC tour is carrying the message of peace, love and hope to people who have been affected directly or indirectly by prescription-drug abuse. The tour is making a stop in Courthouse Square 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The event is a collaboration between the Trumbull County Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention. Drug-testing kits will be available for $10 each.

Columbiana Relay for Life seeks help

COLUMBIANA

The Columbiana American Cancer Society Relay For Life is seeking volunteers — walkers, cancer survivors, caregivers, community leaders and others — to register cancer survivors, pass out information, decorate, set-up and clean-up, and provide entertainment for the event, which is at 6 p.m. July 11 through noon July 12 at Crestview High School, 44100 Crestview Road. Event activities include music, food, games, crafts, entertainment, D.J., bounce house and a Luminaria Ceremony with fireworks.
