Law firm releases energy report

PITTSBURGH

The law firm of Babst Calland released its fourth-annual energy industry report, “Appalachian Shale Industry in Transition: Evolving Challenges for Producers and Midstream Operators.”

This annual review of natural-gas and energy development activity acknowledges the significant growth of the Appalachian shale industry and offers insights on the issues and legal implications resulting from such growth, according to a release by the law firm.

TCTC offers adults computer course

CHAMPION

Trumbull Career and Technical Center’s Adult Training Center is offering a 720-hour computer technology program for potential full-time students.

The course features hands-on use of the latest technology employed in the workplace. Included in the cost of the program is an iPad, the fees for five Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams and a CompTIA exam.

Some of the course highlights include: Microsoft Office 2010 (through the advanced level), basic networking, programming and security. This course is financial-aid eligible.

All classes are from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The start date for this program is Sept. 8.

PUCO approves 2 training grants

COLUMBUS

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved two hazardous-materials training grants totalling $130,199 that will be used to train more than 2,000 public safety professionals.

The Chemical Emergency Preparedness Advisory Council received $65,000 to conduct hazardous-materials exercises and a commodity flow study and the Cincinnati State Technical and Community College received $65,199 to conduct training courses for fire service, law enforcement and emergency managers.

The PUCO awards grants to local government subdivisions, educational institutions and state agencies in Ohio through funds received from fines paid by hazardous material carriers and shippers.
