Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Brad Smith will host his seventh annual True Foundation football camp and Girls Chalk Talk Saturday at Youngstown State University from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The camp is designed to teach football and various life skills. The camp is free and you can register at www.truefoundation16.org.

Manningham hosts camps at Harding

Warren

Mario Manningham will have his fifth annual football skills camps at Warren Harding High on Saturday. The camp will be 10 a.m. to noon for ages 7-13 and 1-3 p.m. for ages 14-18.

At 3:30 pm., Manningham’s No. 30 jersey will be retired by the school.

On Friday, there will be a character and life skills session for ages 14-18 in the auditorium from 10 a.m.-noon. Sunday at 10 a.m. there will be an optional church session with the Manninghams.

Football officials association classes set

The Youngstown District Football Officials Association is sponsoring a training class for new football officials. The class will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive.

Mosley competes at NCAA championship

Kent State’s Joh’vonnie Mosley failed to place in the women’s shot put event in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championship. Mosley, a McDonald High graduate, fouled on all three of her attempts Saturday.

Mosley also placed 23rd in the discus earlier in the championship. She is one of three McDonald athletes who particpated in the national championship for the Golden Flashes.

On Wednesday, junior Miles Dunlap placed 20th in the 400-meter hurdles and on Thursday junior Matthias Tayala won the national championship in the hammer throw.

Solo gets 71st shutout, US women beat France

TAMPA, Fla.

Hope Solo got her 71st career shutout, Sydney Leroux scored a first-half goal, and the United States women’s soccer team beat France 1-0 in a friendly Saturday night. Solo tied Briana Scurry for the most shutouts by a U.S. goalkeeper.

Leroux scored her team-leading seventh goal this season from in-close in the 21st minute. The match against France was the first for the U.S. team since Jill Ellis was promoted to head coach on May 16.

Fleet’s win pushes Oregon men to title

EUGENE, Ore.

Oregon senior Mac Fleet leaned at the finish line in the 1,500 meters, just to ensure he defended his NCAA title. Fleet’s victory Saturday at the NCAA track and field championships denied Arizona’s Lawi Lalang a ninth national title in his final college race and helped push the Oregon men (88 points) to the team’s first outdoor national title since 1984.

Texas A&M (75 points) won the women’s title.

Fleet became the first man to repeat in the 1,500 since Seneca Lassiter of Arkansas in 1997 and 1998. On Friday night, Lalang won the 5,000 in a meet-record 13:18.36 for his eighth NCAA title.

Iowa ‘Field of Dreams’ hosts 25th anniversary

DYERSVILLE, Iowa

The Iowa farm where the baseball film “Field of Dreams” was filmed is hosting a 25th anniversary celebration this weekend. Stars such as Kevin Costner and Timothy Busfield joined thousands of people from all over the Midwest at the remote locale.

Fans were treated to a viewing of the movie in the outfield on Friday night and parents were allowed to play catch with their children in the grass on Saturday. Costner, who played Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella in the film, says the movie remains a “high mark” in his career.
