POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
June 7
Theft: A 3-foot concrete statue was stolen in the 5800 block of Clingan Road.
June 8
Thefts: Checkbooks, a handgun and an iPad device were among items taken from several vehicles in various township locations.
June 9
Harassment: A Hamilton Avenue man reported having been harassed.
BOARDMAN
June 6
Arrest: Officers came upon a disabled vehicle near Southern Boulevard, where they arrested 32-year-old Nakeia L. Hall of Lauderdale Avenue, Youngstown, on a Trumbull County probation-violation warrant related to a charge of receiving stolen property.
Theft: An East Huntington Drive man told police he had given a contractor a $530 down payment to install a patio at his residence but that the work was never finished.
Theft: A tenant reportedly took a 32-inch TV from a room he was renting in the 6600 block of Market Street.
Criminal damaging: A lawn ornament was broken in the 4000 block of Sylvia Lane.
Theft: A $100 stone statue was stolen from atop a mailbox in the 4400 block of Green Glen Drive.
Theft: A woman stole $40 worth of women’s clothing from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Theft: A Cook Avenue woman visiting a friend discovered two debit cards had been removed from her wallet.
Identity theft: A Melbourne Avenue woman learned that her name and Social Security number had been used without consent to file a 2013 income-tax return.
Theft: Two hanging baskets of flowers were removed from a porch in the 200 block of Shields Road.
Theft: Two 15-year-old Austintown girls were charged in the theft of $112 worth of clothing from J.C. Penney in Southern Park Mall.
Domestic violence: A 15-year-old township girl was charged with the crime after her mother alleged the teen had struck her face during an argument related to the girl’s having taken a shower.
Drugs: Authorities responded to a possible shoplifting situation at Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road, where they charged 25-year-old Douglas M. Diclaudio of Hubbard West Drive, West Middlesex, Pa., with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Diclaudio had a spoon with burn marks common in drug use and three hypodermic needles, a report said.
Theft: A woman noticed a iPhone charger missing from her car while in the 900 block of Auburn Hills Drive.
Theft by deception: A man reportedly called a Boardman-Poland Road gas station pretending to be a manager and tricking an employee into giving him $260 after claiming that a business accountant was to come to the station.
Theft: A “For sale” sign was removed from a yard in the 6700 block of Applewood Boulevard.
Robbery: A woman age 20 to 25 reportedly struggled with a loss-prevention official with the J.C. Penney store who tried to detain her after $154 worth of merchandise was stolen and before she fled in a Jeep Cherokee.
Theft: An Austintown man discovered his wallet missing while at a Boardman-Canfield Road fitness center.
Criminal damaging: Someone took and destroyed a flower from a garden in the 6700 block of Applewood Boulevard.
June 7
Arrest: Authorities dealt with a vehicular accident on Forest Lake Drive before charging 30-year-old Matthew J. Balog, who listed addresses in Canfield and Austintown, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Theft: A man stole 104 packs of air fresheners from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave., then left in a silver vehicle.
Misuse of a credit card: A Thalia Avenue woman found that four unauthorized transfers to her credit card had been made, diverting about $290 to another person’s account.
Theft: A woman in the 8800 block of Reserve Court reported $1,315 was taken from her purse in her car.
Domestic violence: Raymond J. Floyd, 33, was taken into custody after having been pulled over on Glenwood Avenue. Floyd, of Pierce Drive, Boardman, was accused of failing to appear in court on a domestic-violence charge.
Theft: Police arrested John M. Vavoulas, 38, of McCartney Road, Lowellville, on a charge that he stole $49 worth of electronics items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: A hubcap was removed from a vehicle at the Southern Park Mall.
Summons: Police responded to a vehicular crash in the 6600 block of West Boulevard where they issued a summons charging 24-year-old Michael P. Callahan of Hitchcock Road, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired and failure to operate a motor vehicle with reasonable control.
Theft: Nancy J. Dorbish of Norquest Boulevard was charged with taking $300 worth of miscellaneous jewelry from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. The 38-year-old Austintown woman also was wanted on three theft warrants.
Arrest: Police pulled over 44-year-old Anthony M. Santangelo Jr. on U.S. Route 224 after saying he had been speeding, then charged Santangelo, of Midgewood Drive, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Domestic violence: Ryan A. Self, 34, of West Boulevard, Boardman, was picked up on a warrant after his girlfriend alleged he had grabbed her out of bed, demanded she leave the residence and pushed her several times. Self also was charged with criminal trespassing when, police said, he had violated conditions of his bond.
June 8
Drugs: A traffic stop on Route 224 led to minor-misdemeanor citations charging Mark A. Haag, 31, of Dickson Street, Youngstown, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Recovered property: A briefcase was found off the side of a road after a Squirrel Hill Drive man had reported it stolen.
Criminal damaging: A Shields Road man alleged his estranged wife tossed a rock through and broke a window to his apartment.
Theft: A $20 bicycle was stolen from a carport in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Menacing: An Austintown woman told officers another woman intentionally followed her in a vehicle to the 7000 block of West Boulevard.
June 9
Arrest: Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force took into custody 41-year-old Larry J. Williams of Buckeye Street Southwest, Warren, on a township warrant charging complicity to robbery after a May 12 shoplifting situation at Walmart in which a worker reported having been pushed and struck.
Arson: Police and firefighters were investigating a car that they found engulfed in flames on Wolosyn Circle. Also, a witness reported having seen two men pouring what he thought might be gasoline on the vehicle.
Assault: A woman alleged the manager of a Boardman-Canfield Road auto-repair business pushed her and demanded she leave his office after she was angered about what she felt were deliberately inadequate repairs to her car.
Theft: A $1,500 electronic notebook and other items were stolen from a car in the 400 block of Presidential Court.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a warehouse at Lake Park Tool & Machinery Inc., 1221 Velma Court, and took two large wrenches, among other property.
Theft: A woman in the 1300 block of Boardman-Poland Road noticed a tote bag missing from her vehicle.
Menacing: A Jaguar Drive man reported a woman has been stalking him after he reportedly found suspected drug paraphernalia in and near his yard.
Theft: Two Youngstown boys, 12 and 17, were accused of taking a Bluetooth speaker and a bottle of cologne from Walmart. Each was released to the custody of a parent.
Theft: Jacwana L. Colpetro, 21, was charged in the theft of $69 worth of clothing from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road. Colpetro, of Carroll Street, Youngstown, also faced one count of obstructing official business when, authorities said, she provided a false name.
Counterfeit: A phony $20 bill was passed at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.
Criminal damaging: A car in the 5000 block of Southern Boulevard was found with a smashed windshield.
Menacing: A Glenwood Avenue boy said he received such calls and text messages, including a threat to blow up his home.
Theft: Assorted clothing, including a pair of sweatpants, and two laundry baskets were stolen from an apartment in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Theft by deception: An Appleridge Drive woman reported a caller claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service told the accuser she owes $4,435, and that the U.S. government would seize her bank accounts and home if she failed to pay.
