Powers Auditorium getting a new roof
YOUNGSTOWN
Work has begun to repair and replace the roof of Powers Auditorium, home of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, downtown.
More than 8,000 square feet of roofing will be replaced. The project includes insulation.
The project is being funded through a $25,000 grant from the Youngstown Foundation and money from the Symphony Society’s endowment fund.
The project is expected to take a few weeks and will not interrupt business at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, although the small east parking lot will be closed during the work.
Grateful Dead film rarity at Tinseltown

“Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies” will be at 7:30 p.m. July 17 at theaters across the country, including Tinseltown near Southern Park Mall.
Fathom Events and Rhino Entertainment are presenting the fourth annual film event, which will feature a rare and complete live studio performance of the band at Beat Club, captured during its 1972 European tour.
The Beat Club TV performance in Bremen, West Germany, is one of the last-known videos of band member Ron “Pigpen” McKernan.

R5 tickets on sale for Sept. 25 show

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today for R5, the pop-rock band whose members can be seen on the Disney Channel and the Fox series “Glee.” The band will come to Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., on Sept. 25.
