Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority announced plans Thursday for an $8.9 million housing complex at 2501 Parkman Road NW for people 55 and older to be called Parkman Landing.
Groundbreaking for the mixed income, independent-living community is scheduled for January, with completion slated for June 2016.
The three-story, 60-unit, 66,961-square-foot building just south of the Trumbull Plaza will consist of 40 one-bedroom apartments and 20 two-bedroom apartments. It will feature a community room, lounge, laundry facilities and electronic-door system.
“Parkman Landing will provide Trumbull County seniors with safe, comfortable and affordable housing that will add to their quality of life by providing a sense of community and encouraging an active lifestyle,” said Donald W. Emerson Jr., the TMHA executive director.
TMHA will demolish one of the two buildings at its Riverview complex on Buckeye Street Northwest. Some current residents will be able to move to Parkman Landing. Others will have the option to move to other TMHA communities, including the remaining Riverview building, Emerson said in a press release.
The cost of a third of the Parkman Landing apartments will be at or below 30 percent of the area median gross income ($11,860 for one bedroom, $14,230 for two bedroom), 27 percent at or below 50 percent of the area median gross income ($19,760 for one bedroom, $23,715 for two bedroom), and 40 percent at or below 60 percent of median area gross income ($23,715 for one bedroom, $28,460 for two bedroom).
Warren Housing Development Corp., in conjunction with TMHA, is developing Parkman Landing. Financing was provided by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, private nonprofit funding and City HOME funds.
Warren Housing Development Corp., formed in 1977 as a nonprofit organization, also has these Trumbull County properties — The Elms and Kenmore Apartments in Warren, Heaton House in Niles, West Park Manor in Hubbard, and The Ridge in Mineral Ridge.
