NORTH LIMA
The Beaver Township Ruritans will host its 10th annual Father’s Day car show Sunday at the new South Range High School, 11300 Columbiana-Canfield Road. Registration is set for 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the show will run from 1 to 5 p.m.
Entry fee is $6. There will be People’s Choice and Club Choice awards in 17 categories. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 participants.
Food, door prizes, goodie bags and 50-50 and basket auctions will be offered. DJ Firefly will provide entertainment. For information, call Gary Kappler at 330-482-9048 or 330-770-2105.
New principal
WARREN
Joseph Kenneally, principal of the John F. Kennedy Lower Campus on Reeves Road, has been appointed principal of John F. Kennedy High School effective July 1.
He succeeds Brian Sinchak, who has taken a position as president of Lakewood Catholic Elementary School in Lakewood. Dr. Nicholas Wolsonovich, diocesan superintendent of schools, said Kenneally also will be interim president of John F. Kennedy Catholic School.
Kenneally has been principal at JFK Lower Campus since 2011. The school houses pre-kindergarten through grade six. He previously was principal at Sharon Kennedy Catholic High School. A search for a replacement for president will begin in early December.
Police unsure about charges in death
YOUNGSTOWN
Police say it is not known if any charges will be filed in an accident in which a woman was killed Tuesday evening in a supermarket parking lot.
Officer Brian Booksing said 79-year-old Glenn Thom of Youngstown was pulling forward into a parking space at the Sparkle Market on South Meridian Road about 6:25 p.m. when he struck 69-year-old Loretta Lewis of Canfield. Lewis was pinned beneath Thom’s car, and the car also hit a building, Booksing said Thursday.
Fire damages house

Reports say a fire at a vacant North Side home early Thursday caused $3,000 damage. Crews were called to 61 Saranac Ave. about 2:55 a.m. and found a fire on the second floor. Reports said the fire started in a closet and spread throughout the ceiling. The cause is listed as arson.
Flag disposal
CANFIELD
Mahoning Veterans Memorial at the Canfield Fairgrounds, state Route 46, is sponsoring a flag-disposal ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday. MVM members encourage Scouts and 4-H organizations to attend.
