BOARDMAN

Kevin Luzar faces several charges in the robbery of a Subway restaurant Wednesday morning.

Luzar, 25, of Boardman, will be in Mahoning County Court tonight on one charge of aggravated robbery and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstruction.

Authorities were called to Subway, 5205 Market St., at 8:41 a.m. Detective Jerry Kamensky said Luzar entered the business and asked for a cookie and put a dollar bill on the register. “When the register opened, he demanded the money” by displaying a gun, Kamensky said.

Luzar then was seen on surveillance video fleeing and renting a room at the Town and Country Motel next door. Officers negotiated with him to come out, and both the Subway clerk and the motel clerk identified him.

Sealed warrant

BOARDMAN

Authorities sealed a search warrant used Monday during the investigation of a homicide in the township.

Sgt. Mike Hughes said the search warrant was returned to Mahoning County Area Court in Austintown on Wednesday after Judge David D’Apolito signed the warrant earlier in the week.

Authorities were at the home of Chris Craft, 48, of 1736 Alverne Drive, on Monday removing a computer while collecting evidence. Craft was found dead in front of his computer with part of his face missing after someone apparently removed the skin in an attempt to cover up the crime.
