Youngstown man drowns in Pa.

Staff report

HILLSVILLE, Pa.

The Mahoning Township Police Department said a 20-year-old Youngstown man drowned in a quarry off Eric Drive about 8 p.m. Monday.

A news release said the victim is Aaron Mahdee. The release said the quarry is a private quarry, and it called Mahdee’s death an “accidental drowning.”

The Lawrence County Coroner’s Office is investigating.

Vindicator news partner 21 WFMJ-TV reported that Mahdee was a Youngstown State University student who graduated from Hubbard High School in 2012.

Township Police Chief James Morris told the television station that water where Mahdee was swimming with friends is very cold.

After Mahdee disappeared, dive teams were called to the quarry, and they eventually found him, the television station said.
