Social Distortion coming to Rodeo
Staff report
AUSTINTOWN
Social Distortion will come to Rodeo Music Hall, 1743 S. Raccoon Road, on Sept. 10 to headline a concert that will include opening acts the Whigs and Johnny Two Bags.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at surfthevalley.com. The club is in Wedgewood Plaza at the intersection of New and Racoon roads.
The hard-rocking band from California is no stranger to the venue. Social Distortion played the venue in 2007 and again in 2009, although the club had a different name for both of those concerts.
The band, led by guitarist-vocalist Mike Ness, has released seven albums since forming 35 years ago. It has sold more than 3 million units, including a 1990 self-titled album that spawned the hits “Ball and Chain,” “Story of My Life” and a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”
Social Distortion’s most- recent album, “Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes,” was released in 2011.
The band is rumored to be preparing a new album that will come out later this year.
