Ribbon-cutting set for El Vallarta

El Vallarta, a new Mexican restaurant in Poland, will officially open today. A ribbon-cutting will take place at 11 a.m.
El Vallarta is owned and managed by Juan Vazquez and his family. Vazquez has been in the restaurant business for 14 years, and his family has a long history of running Mexican restaurants.
The restaurant will have a mariachi band from 6 to 9 p.m. and will offer 25 percent off food bills.
The newly remodeled 6,300-square-foot restaurant seats 200. It has a full bar and a large selection of authentic Mexican lunches, dinners and desserts, including a children’s menu and special vegetarian entrees. The restaurant, at 1738 Boardman-Poland Road, is open seven days a week.
Kickoff celebration

The Mahoning Valley Lifelong Learning Institute will announce its next steps and pay tribute to its late honorary campaign chairwoman at its private campaign kick-off celebration today.
The event will be in the Park Vista Gathering Room, 1216 Fifth Ave., and will officially launch the $1 million fundraising effort for capital improvement and program endowment for the institute.
Campaign leaders also will pay special tribute to the late Charlotte C. Gelhaar. She was honorary campaign chairwoman when she died in January at age 86. Plans for The Gelhaar Center, which will house the institute, will be revealed.
Workshop on startups

New business startups and entrepreneurs without previous business experience are invited to attend a free Business Start-up Essentials workshop beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday at 100 E. Reynolds St.
The workshop is hosted by the Lawrence County Economic Development Corp. and must be attended before being able to schedule a one-on-one meeting with one of the small-business development center consultants. The startup essentials workshop is a two-hour session and is offered monthly.

First National Bank Wealth Management, a subsidiary of First National Bank of Pennsylvania, announced the recent hiring of James E. Hieber as senior vice president and director of compliance, operations and support services in the company’s Pittsburgh region.
Hieber is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight for business strategy and management.
FNB of Pa. hires VP
PITTSBURGH
First National Bank of Pennsylvania, the largest subsidiary of F.N.B. Corp., announced the recent hiring of Ladi Stimpfel as assistant vice president and corresponding lending operations manager.
Stimpfel is responsible for building and managing the newly created lending channel for residential mortgage, which approves correspondent mortgage bankers, credit unions and banks.
