Local players in first Ohio-Michigan game
YOUNGSTOWN
Two Mahoning Valley football players will participate in the first Ohio-Michigan High School Border Classic all-star game.
Ursuline defensive end Shahaun Williams and Youngstown Christian wide receiver Darien Townsend will play for Ohio. The game is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the University of Findlay’s Donnell Stadium.
Two area golfers win at PGA Junior event
Cole Christman of Canfield and Jacob Harrah of Newton Falls won their respective age divisions at a Northern Ohio PGA Junior golf event Sunday at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina.
Christman won the boys 13-15 division by one stroke with a 1-over score of 73. Boardman’s Ken Keller was eighth with an 83.
In the boys 16-18 division, Harrah won by two strokes, also with a 1-over 73. Other local golfers included Nicholas Hough of Youngstown, 84; Bruce William Wiggins of Columbiana, 85; Josh Faulkner of Leetonia, 88; and Nate Coy of Beloit, 103.
YSU coaches schedule youth football camp
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown State football coaching staff will host a youth football camp for children ages 8-13 on June 24 (9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) at Stambaugh Stadium.The cost to attend the camp is $50 and online registration is available at www.penguinsfootballcamps.com. Deadline is June 19. No walkups will be accepted.
Parents should have their children register in the F-7 parking lot just north of Stambaugh Stadium between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Participants should wear workout clothes and tennis shoes. For more information, call the YSU football office at 330-941-3478.
Sterling says no deal; suit vs. NBA is on

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has pulled his support from a deal to sell the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and will pursue his $1 billion federal lawsuit against the NBA, his attorney said Monday. The $2 billion sale was negotiated by his wife Shelly Sterling after Donald Sterling’s racist remarks to a girlfriend were publicized and the NBA moved to oust him as owner.
Browns add two as minicamp starts today
CLEVELAND
The Browns have signed free agent offensive lineman Alex Parsons and kicker/punter Jake Rogers. Parsons (6-4, 301) spent two seasons on Oakland’s practice squad after the Raiders signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2010. Rogers, who kicked in college at Cincinnati, originally signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He spent time with five other teams but has not appeared in a game.
The Browns open a three-day mandatory minicamp today.

Mark Price, a sweet-shooting All-Star guard for Cleveland, will interview for the team’s coaching job, a person familiar with the meeting told The Associated Press. Price, 50, spent last season as an assistant coach on Steve Clifford’s staff with Charlotte and is the sixth known candidate to meet with the Cavs, who plan to bring back Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Alvin Gentry for a second interview.
The Cavs have also met with Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue, Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin, former Memphis coach Lionel Hollins and former Clippers and Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro. The Cavs’ wide-ranging search has also included the team contacting Kentucky coach John Calipari. Yahoo! and ESPN reported the Cavs offered a contract to Calipari, who signed a new seven-year, $52 million deal last week to stay with the Wildcats.
