2-year-old fatally shot during domestic dispute in Cleveland

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland police say a man shot and killed his 2-year-old son during a domestic dispute.

The child killed early today has been identified by the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office as Derrice Alexander Jr. of Cleveland.

A Cleveland police spokesman says the father has been arrested and is in custody. The spokesman says the shooting occurred shortly before 6 a.m. but could provide no details about the events that led to it.

The child died at a nearby hospital.

Television stations are reporting the shooting occurred on Cleveland’s near west side.
