Thousands expected at racino job fair
AUSTINTOWN — An expected 2,000 people will show up today for the first racino job fair that will go until 8 p.m.
The Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course will hire approximately 400 full-time and part-time employees for the Austintown location expected to open in the fall.
Scott Frost, director of marketing for the racino, said approximately 1,600 people applied online for the job fair.
"We are about looking at personality today," Frost said. "Just to make sure they are a natural fit for our culture."
Groups of people from across the Valley wrapped around the sidewalk at the job fair at the former Fashion Bug location inside Austintown Plaza. The applicants cheered in excitement at the thought of working at the $250 million gaming, dining, entertainment and thoroughbred racing facility off State Route 46.
The hiring for food and beverage service, security, accounting, racing and more is expected to be complete in July.
The second job fair is from noon to 8 p.m. June 25 at Stambaugh Auditorium.
