Bishop George V. Murry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has announced that Nancy Yuhasz will retire July 1 as chancellor of the diocese after 40 years of service.

In 1974, she began at the Chancery Office as a secretary and was appointed chancellor in 1996. She was the first lay person to serve in the position in the diocese. At that time, only 12 of the 189 dioceses in the United States had laywomen chancellors.
