McDonald girls capture D3 state track title

The McDonald High girls track team won its first state title, edging both Defiance Tinora and St. Thomas Aquinas 45-44 in Saturday's Division III meet in Columbus.

McDonald's girls placed second in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays on Saturday, both in school-record times, to power the victory.

McDonald's Bobby Johnson won the boys' 3200, capping a stellar high school career that included the individual title in cross country.

Warren JFK's Morgan Rice repeated as state champion in the 100 hurdles and finished second in the 300 hurdles, and teammate Chad Zallow repeated in the 110 hurdles and also finished second in the 300s.

Over the two-day meet, Trumbull County athletes combined to win six individual titles and a team title.
