Home Savings Charitable Foundation has donated $10,000 to Beatitude House to support the case management for the agency’s transitional-housing program for homeless women.

“The program is designed to give each client the knowledge and individualized support they need to escape poverty,” said Sister Janet Gardner, Beatitude House executive director.

“We’re very proud to support Beatitude House in its efforts to provide people with opportunities to change their lives. We are fortunate to have them in our community,” said Pamela Kimmel, director of the Home Savings Charitable Foundation.

Recycle appliances

CANFIELD

An appliance-recycling drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds, Gate 9, off state Route 46.

Refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, stoves, freezers, hot water heaters, water softeners and other appliances made primarily of metal will be accepted; and there will be no charge for Freon removal.

Museum open

SALEM

The Salem Historical Society has opened its museum, 208 S. Broadway St., for the 42nd season.

The newest addition to the museum is on the Dale Shaffer Research Library, which has displays of Salem’s industrial and transportation.

There also are new displays in the former meeting room. One display has two movie projectors from the Salem Twin Cinema donated by Geoff and Kim Goll. The other display is of Ponderosa Park, a successful attraction venue under the guidance of Tom Pauley.

The museum is open Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 3:30.

Bike-show benefit

BOARDMAN

The Armstrong Street Scene Car & Custom Bike Show from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Shepherd Self Storage, 7469 South Ave., will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

Spectator admission is free. Those who donate a nonperishable food item will receive a free raffle ticket.

Vehicle registration is set for 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. The cost is $10 per car or bike. The car show features The Big Bad Dodge, a 1964 Dodge 330 drag-race car with a limited-production 426 race Hemi engine and 125 mph speed record, courtesy of Don Snyder; and Rick Gurrera and Krysta Sylvester, hosts of the “Street Scene” television series.

Road closings

YOUNGSTOWN

East Federal Street between Market and Walnut streets, and Champion Street between Boardman and Commerce streets will be closed from 12:01 a.m. today to 11:59 p.m. Saturday for the Pride Youngstown Parade. Also, there will be a one-lane temporary closure for the northbound lane on Market between Woodland and East Federal streets between noon and 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
