YOUNGSTOWN

The Victorian Players will close its 2013-14 season with J.P. Miller’s “Days of Wine and Roses,” which opens Friday and runs weekends through June 22.

Best known for the 1962 movie version starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick, “Days of Wine and Roses” tells a tragic love story of a man, a woman and a bottle.

A young advertising executive falls in love with a beautiful secretary, but as their love affair blossoms into marriage, their casual drinking becomes a deterrent to their life together.

What happens when one partner gets sober? How does their drinking affect their friends, their family, their jobs and their young daughter? Audiences are left to wonder if alcohol will destroy them of if love will triumph.
