Canoe on Berlin Reservoir

When: Saturday, 2-4 p.m.

What: Explore the quiet waters where the Mahoning River enters Berlin Reservoir just north of Alliance. You may see osprey, waterfowl and other waterbirds. Participants must sign a liability waiver. Canoes, paddles and life jackets provided. Trip canceled in case of thunderstorms or high winds. Registrants will be notified by phone in case of cancellation. Registration required and limited to 18 people.

Where: Meet at the Price Street Boat Ramp just west of state Route 183 (Union Avenue) across from Barber Airport and Canton Air Sports north of Alliance.

Garden Adventure

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

What: Enjoy a day of family fun adventuring through Fellows Riverside Gardens just like Alice did in Wonderland.

HUMMINGBIRD WANDS

When: Sunday, 2-3:30 p.m.

What: Learn how to attract and properly feed hummingbirds. Participants will make a hummingbird wand to use as a hanging feeder and hand-held feeder for an up-close encounter with one of nature’s most magical creatures.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

FREE Nutrition Class

When: Mondays starting next week through July 14, 5:30-7 p.m.

What: Join us for a series of eight free lessons designed to help families who have children in the home age 0-18 and are on a restricted budget or low income. Free educational incentives and food tastings, along with information on nutrition, physical activity, stretching your family’s food dollars, food safety and resource management.
