Winners run away with Lions’ 5K race

AUSTINTOWN
The Austintown Lions Club had its 19th Annual 5K Run May 10 at Austintown Township Park.
Lion Larry Jensen served as race chairman, and the finish line was provided by the Youngstown Road Runners Club.
Spitzer Chevrolet served as the major sponsor.
A kids race started off the event, and it was won by Aydan Rusu, 8, of Struthers.
Tom Grantonic of Boardman was the overall 5K winner, Don Peace of Canfield came in second, and Everett Briggs of Youngstown finished third.
Among the women, Gloria Stanich of Poland took first place, followed by Lucy Baer of Leetonia in second place, and in third place was Jaclynn Choma of Austintown.
In the Men’s Masters, for those 40 years and older, Joe Vanek of Petersburg came in first, followed by Mike Smith of Salem in second place and Steve Hoffmaster of Poland in third place.
In the Women’s Masters, Renay Choma of Austintown took first place, Renee Bodden of Canfield finished second, and Diane Downey of Southington was third.
All winners received special awards, and door prizes were given.
