Volunteers needed

YOUNGSTOWN

Volunteers are needed for The Color Run in Youngstown. The event begins at 9 a.m, June 14 at the Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St.

Volunteers will help with registration, “throw color” and distribute water. For information regarding volunteer opportunities, call 330-746-9128.

Registration is still open for individual and team runners at https://thecolorrun.com/youngstown. Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley has been selected as the charity partner for The Color Run and will receive $1 from every registration made using the code CHMCA.

The Color Run is introducing its new Kaleidoscope Tour. Participants can expect novel course attractions, fresh participant gear and new store merchandise.

Fire at YSU

A small fire broke out on the campus of Youngstown State University about 3 p.m. Saturday. An email sent by campus authorities said the fire was in Ward Beecher Hall and was put out a short time later. There were no injuries. Officials with the Youngstown Fire Department did not return messages seeking more comment Saturday.

Camps for kids

SANDY LAKE, PA.

The McKeever Environmental Learning Center, 55 McKeever Lane, will offer summer camps for children age 5 through 14.

The camps are designed to connect children with the natural world through play and adventure.

The center has two nature-day camps, one for children age 5-7 June 16-20 and another for age 8-9 July 14-18. Earthkeepers Camp is July 9-11 and Earthkeepers Level II is June 25-27. Those are three-day/two-night camps for children age 10-11.

The center’s Outdoor Adventure Camp Aug. 6-8 is for children 12-14, and it also is a three-day/two-night camp.
