Pikunas wins junior event at Mill Creek

Jacinta Pikunas, of Boardman, finished first in the girls 13-15 division in a Junior PGA Qualifer on Saturday at Mill Creek Park.

Pikunas, who is a former Greatest Golfer of the Valley champion, shot a 79, capturing the top spot.

In the girls 16-18 age group, Gabby Minor from Canton and Megan Pollock (Medina) shot 75’s to qualify in the number one position.

On the boys side, Jared Wilson of Columbiana shot a 69 (-1) to earn first in the 13-15 division.

In the boys 16-18 division, Cole Smith from Kent fired a 72 to win the top honor.
