James and Joyce O’Malley of Struthers, formerly of Youngstown, have been celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The first part of the celebration took place at the Indians home opener at Progressive Field with tickets from her brother, William. The celebration will continue in June with a trip to Mackinac Island in Michigan, a gift from their children James Jr. (Jenni) of Columbus; David (Gretchen) of Youngstown and Jenn (Jeff) Petersen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They also have two grandsons, Sam O’Malley and Gideon O’Malley.
The former Joyce Olesky and Mr. O’Malley were married April 4, 1964, at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown. They will renew their vows June 15 at St. Columba Cathedral with Bishop George Murry officiating.
The couple are members of St. Dominic Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. O’Malley is a homemaker and is a member of Queen of the Classie Lassies, a branch of the Red Hat Society.
Mr. O’Malley was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office, and retired in 1992. He is an artist and a U.S. Army veteran.
