St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen to reopen Wednesday

YOUNGSTOWN — The St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen on Front Street downtown will reopen Wednesday after having to close this morning because of a gas leak.

Skip Barone, dining hall manager, said a work crew from Dominion East Ohio Gas will be at the facility early this morning to fix the problem.

“I’m going to go in and make coffee and prepare for a normal day,” Barone said today. “If we’re not able to use the stove, we’ll have sandwiches, bagged lunches.”

A client detected the odor and a hissing sound outside the soup kitchen this morning and notified Barone who called the gas company.
